Let’s calculate how much it will cost to use an air conditioner. As a basis, we will take an air conditioner with a capacity of 2 kW, which is how much kW per hour the device will consume. Let’s assume that it’s a hot summer outside and the air conditioner is used 10 hours a day.
Multiply 10 kW by 2 kW and get 20 kW. So we will find out what is the power consumption of the air conditioner in one day. Let’s assume that the machine is used daily. Multiply 20 kW by 30 days and get 600 kW / month. Multiply this value by the cost of one kW in your city and get the total cost of using the air conditioner.
Please note that this is only an approximate calculation. We did not take into account the windows, doors, type of device (for example, consumes less electricity than normal), operating mode, and other factors. So when working in the heating mode, the power consumption will be greater than when cooling.
However, these calculations are enough to find out an approximate figure and understand how much air conditioners consume electricity per hour, and whether you can afford to own such a device.
How to reduce energy consumption?
If you have not yet purchased the device, pay attention to the economical air conditioners of the inverter type. Their power should not be high (up to 1.5 kW), and the energy consumption class should not be lower than «A».
