General Climate air conditioner

General Climate air conditioner: error codes

Air conditioning is available in every third modern apartment, and this is not surprising. Split systems are designed to improve the microclimate in our cramped apartments, and, I must say, they perfectly cope with their task. But it is worth considering that the air conditioner is a technically complex device consisting of many components connected to each other. And sooner or later, one of these components may fail.

When the split system fails, the device reports this by displaying an error code on the display. This is very convenient, because you can spend less time on diagnostics. You do not have to check the entire system to understand in which unit the problem occurred and what kind of problem it is. Wizards and users should be aware of these errors in order to prevent a problem in the operation of the device in time. In this article, we will briefly describe the main error codes of air conditioners from the General Climate brand.

We will list only the basic codes. They may differ depending on the model of the device, so this list can not be called universal. However, it will help you in the initial decoding, if there is no diagnostic equipment and technical documentation from the air conditioner at hand.

Basic errors and their decoding

Does the air conditioner dry the air

E2

The sensor that measures the room temperature is not working properly or has failed.

E3

The sensor that measures the temperature of the evaporator is not working properly or has failed.

E4

The sensor that measures the temperature of the condenser is not working properly or has failed.

E5

There was a failure in the operation of the drainage pump. The engine must have overheated.

E6

The protection of the outdoor unit of the air conditioner has worked. Probably, there was a phase break. The temperature protection could also work.

E7

The volatile memory failed.

E8

The drain pan is overflowing.

Operation+timer+def/fan

The compressor has experienced multiple overcurrents. To reset the error, turn off the power to the air conditioner.

Water alarm light flickers

The condensate in the drainage pan has exceeded the permissible level. In this case, you need to force the drain pump to turn on if it does not work automatically.

The water alarm light is on

The drain pan is full, and the condensate does not fall below the permissible level. Device turns on the emergency mode. To reset the error, turn off the power to the air conditioner.

Def/fan (pre/def)

The sensor responsible for measuring the temperature of the condenser is broken or does not work properly. After the cause is resolved, the air conditioner will automatically resume normal operation.

All light bulbs are red

There was a failure in the operation of the outdoor unit. Probably, there was a phase break or the temperature protection was triggered.

Timer

The sensor that measures the room temperature is not working properly or has failed.

Operation

The sensor that measures the temperature of the evaporator is not working properly or has failed.

Operation+timer

The volatile memory failed. Or you need to change the control board.

Results

No matter how modern modern air conditioners are, they are hardly reliable. Many functions increase the comfort of using the device, but reduce the service life. After all, for their stable operation, you need a lot of parts connected in a single system. Sooner or later, one of the components may fail, and then the air conditioner will work unstable. This is not surprising, because the more complex the equipment, the higher the probability of its failure.

In this article, we have listed the most common errors of air conditioners from the General Climate brand. The value of the error code may differ depending on the model of the air conditioner, so only an experienced specialist will be able to fully decipher it.

We also recommend that you entrust the repair to the master from the service center. Do not perform repairs yourself at home. This can lead to additional malfunctions, which will reduce the service life of the device and increase the cost of its repair.

In the comments below, you can share your experience of deciphering codes and performing repairs of climate equipment. Give some useful tips for users and novice wizards. Also check out other articles on our website, share them on your social networks. Good luck!
